Much more than a vertical warehouse: ECAT's experience with ONO|External

ECAT S.r.l. (HIREF group) develops and produces customized electrical panels according to customers' specific requirements, also dealing with semi-finished products and components in support of the cold and plant engineering sectors.

Having to manage a process of structural expansion, ECAT needed to expand its internal logistics department and introduce an advanced system capable of handling both parcels allocated on static shelves and those stored inside the actual vertical warehouse: hence the decision to replace an obsolete traditional vertical warehouse with two ONO Modules integrated with the innovative proprietary software ONO/EXTERNAL.

You already had a traditional vertical warehouse: what prompted you to choose an ONO Modular Vertical Warehouse?

"Simple! Our choice fell on the solution we considered most innovative. We had two options: to purchase another traditional vertical warehouse or to take a leap forward in quality. We suspected that ONO could be the supplier capable of offering us a completely new system that could guarantee us effective improvements in terms of volume recovery and warehouse operators' operations."

How did ONO manage to meet your needs?

"The ONO Modular Warehouses improved warehouse stock management by increasing control over stock levels and flows, ensuring continuous tracking of movements. All this was made possible by the connection between our management system and ONO/EXTERNAL. This way, we have the ability to monitor with a single interface not only the goods inside the ONO Modules but also those allocated on external shelves."

What is the main innovation that ONO has introduced at ECAT?

"ONO/EXTERNAL! This software allows us to track all materials! Using a single device, operators can quickly retrieve the necessary material in real-time, whether it is inside the ONO Vertical Warehouse or allocated on static shelves. Furthermore, thanks to ONO/EXTERNAL, we also manage an incoming goods sorting area, being able to quickly determine what needs to be stored in the warehouse and what needs to go directly to assembly, effectively eliminating double handling."

Do you think the experience with ONO has been positive? Would you recommend ONO to other companies operating in your same sector?
