Fromm Italiana Srl group has been a global leader for 70 years in the production of pneumatic and electric strapping machines, pallet wrappers, and the patented AIRPAD system, in addition to consumables for all products. The Italian division deals with the production of manual and automatic strapping machines; all components are produced internally at the Caprino Veronese plant, where assembly and spare parts management are also handled.
Thousands of codes are handled daily in different stages of production until the finished product.
The CEO of Fromm Italiana Srl, Roberto Vallani, has agreed to answer some of our questions.

Good morning Roberto, thank you for making yourself available to share your experience with ONO Lean Logistics.

What are the reasons that led you to switch from traditional vertical warehouses to an integrated production server?

"For some time, we had been using vertical warehouses for storing finished products and wanted to innovate and make the storage system for materials destined for transformation more effective. In the past, they were stored on shelves and managed with bulky metal crates and cages that took up space in production. Today, thanks to the system we chose, the materials are divided into containers according to quantities and logics that follow the real weekly or monthly consumption of scheduled productions, reducing floor space in production and increasing the efficiency of the personnel in charge of picking."

Why did you choose ONO?

"For twenty years, we have been collaborating with Ambrosi for other services as well, we know well the commitment to innovation and the reliability of the company. We liked the idea and the proposed solution, which changes the paradigm of mere storage by introducing techniques and savings that we did not imagine applicable to our logics."

How was this possible?

"Each ONO Module can be used as a stand-alone, but when connected to other modules, it uses a system that allows exchanging drawers from one Module to another, creating a "larger" warehouse. The management system controls the position of the drawers, presenting them to the user in the selected bay. We chose to specialize the bays (one for entry and one for exit) but we could also use them simultaneously and independently for pouring or picking operations."
